Covid Safety Protocols

We will continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC and state and local health departments with regard to Covid safety. The current plan is to leave it to parents’ discretion whether to have their child wear a face covering when they are not playing. Instrument covers will not be required. Obviously, students exhibiting any symptoms should stay home from rehearsals or performances.

Due to the small number of rehearsals, rehearsal attendance is critical. Musicians committing to the group must not miss more than one of the rehearsals. Extenuating circumstances may be discussed individually with the Director.

Concert Dress

Winter Session

Please dress nicely as you would for a concert at your school. Gentlemen should wear dress pants and a dress shirt. Ladies may wear a dress shirt and dress pants or a modest skirt or dress that would be acceptable under your school’s dress code.

Summer Session

Each participant will receive a Blizzard Youth Winds t-shirt. Concert dress will be nice looking jeans and the band t-shirt. If it is extremely hot the day of the concert you may wear modest shorts that would be acceptable under your school’s dress code.

Other Information

Music will be sent via email approximately 1-2 weeks after the close of registration. In addition to your instrument and pencil, all players will need to bring a music stand to the rehearsals and concert. Percussionists should bring their own snare drum, bell set, sticks and mallets as required by the assigned parts. Other percussion instruments will be provided. Professional behavior and appropriate dress are expected at rehearsals.
