Covid Safety Protocols
We will continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC and state and local health departments with regard to Covid safety. The current plan is to rehearse indoors with students spaced further apart than usual. Students should wear masks in the building when not in their seats. Masks may be removed when playing and bell covers will not be required. Brass players will be provided disposable absorbent pads to empty water onto. Since the guidelines are always changing, we will send an update before the session begins.
Due to the small number of rehearsals, rehearsal attendance is critical. Musicians committing to the group must not miss more than one of the rehearsals. Extenuating circumstances may be discussed individually with the Director.
Please dress nicely as you would for a concert at your school. Gentlemen should wear dress pants and a dress shirt. Ladies may wear a dress shirt and dress pants or a modest skirt or dress that would be acceptable under your school’s dress code.
Each participant will receive a Blizzard Youth Winds t-shirt. Concert dress will be nice looking jeans and the band t-shirt. If it is extremely hot the day of the concert you may wear modest shorts that would be acceptable under your school’s dress code.
Music will be sent via email approximately 1-2 weeks after the close of registration. In addition to your instrument and pencil, all players will need to bring a music stand to the rehearsals and concert. Percussionists should bring their own snare drum, bell set, sticks and mallets as required by the assigned parts. Other percussion instruments will be provided. Professional behavior and appropriate dress are expected at rehearsals.
